About

In response to the evolving demands of higher education in the digital economy era and the need to modernize governance systems, the School of Economics and Management at China University of Petroleum (East China) officially established its Strategic Advisory Committee in 2024.

Chaired by Academician Liu He of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Committee comprises 17 distinguished experts from academia, industry, and government, forming a high-level think tank that integrates “academic leadership, industry collaboration, and policy support.” This strategic initiative marks a milestone in the School’s development, serving as a critical step toward its vision of becoming a leading business school that drives innovation in China’s energy management and regional economic development.

As a key component of the School’s governance system, the Strategic Advisory Committee will be rooted in the energy sector while addressing the needs of regional economic transformation. It will focus on strategic and forward-looking issues, providing evidence-based guidance on optimizing disciplinary structures, cultivating exceptional talent, and deepening international cooperation. By combining the academic foresight of academicians, the practical expertise of enterprises, and the policy insights of government advisors, the Committee will accelerate the School’s strategic vision of “consolidating foundations in economics and management, enhancing energy-oriented strengths, and advancing distinction in digital intelligence.”

Looking ahead, the Committee will leverage the University’s strengths in the energy sector to systematically design strategic pathways. It will support the development of a “UPC-featured” education model, build a brand of innovation in energy business education, and enhance mechanisms for industry-academia collaboration. These efforts aim to fulfill the School’s mission of “nurturing high-caliber talent, advancing academic excellence, and promoting sustainable development,” while contributing intellectual power to the implementation of China’s energy strategy and the transformation and upgrading of regional economies.
