On behalf of the School Party Committee, Zhu Hua extended warm congratulations on the convening of the congress and expressed sincere appreciation to leaders at all levels and members of society who have long supported the School’s development. She affirmed the achievements made by faculty and students over the past year and put forward three expectations for students in the context of new opportunities and challenges during the upcoming “15th Five-Year Plan” period.

First, she called on students to anchor their ideals and strengthen their spiritual foundation, encouraging them to inherit the School’s fine traditions, cultivate a strong sense of responsibility to the nation, and integrate personal growth with national development. Second, she emphasized the importance of building competence to shoulder responsibility, noting that the new wave of technological transformation calls for interdisciplinary talent. She urged student organizations to focus on students’ development needs by building cross-disciplinary learning platforms, promoting industry engagement, and supporting employment and entrepreneurship. Third, she highlighted innovation as the driving force of excellence, encouraging student unions to organize high-quality, impactful, and creative activities that enhance vitality, relevance, and cohesion, and reflect the School’s pursuit of excellence.

During the first plenary session, Chen Chujiani, on behalf of the School Student Union, and Li Jinchao, on behalf of the School Graduate Student Union, presented work reports. The second plenary session, chaired by Zhao Xiaoran, reviewed and approved the election procedures, the lists of chief ballot supervisors and ballot counters, and announced the candidates for the new Student Union and Graduate Student Union leadership and standing committees, followed by a secret ballot election.

At the third plenary session, the chief ballot supervisor announced the election results and confirmed the members of the 7th Student Union Presidium and the 6th Graduate Student Union Standing Committee, as well as the official delegates to the 28th University Student Congress and the 13th University Graduate Student Congress. The congress then adopted resolutions on the work reports of the Student Union and Graduate Student Union, heard the report on submitted proposals, and approved draft amendments to the constitutions of both organizations. The congress concluded with all delegates standing to sing the University anthem.

The congress comprehensively reviewed the achievements of the Student Union and Graduate Student Union over the past year and clarified key priorities and tasks for future work. Following the congress, the Student Union and Graduate Student Union will further refine submitted proposals and promote effective solutions through various channels, including rights and interests forums. Students will continue to contribute their wisdom and energy to building a distinctive and influential School, supporting the University’s goal of becoming a world-class energy-focused university with Chinese characteristics, and advancing the ambitious vision of the “15th Five-Year Plan.”
