Recently, the course team for the graduate module Commercial Bank Operations and Management invited Manager Bai Ke from the Qingdao West Coast New Area Branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) to deliver a featured lecture for the School’s Class of 2025 Master of Finance students. The talk was titled “Reflections and Practice on Advancing the ‘Five Key Areas of Finance.’”

Manager Bai first introduced key takeaways from the Central Financial Work Conference. Centered on the five priority areas—finance for science and technology, green finance, inclusive finance, pension finance, and digital finance—he outlined how state-owned commercial banks are advancing transformation and innovation across these domains. Drawing on his professional experience and China’s evolving policy agenda, he further analyzed major development trends for commercial banking in the coming years, helping students build a more holistic understanding of the sector. During the interactive session, he also addressed students’ questions about internships and career planning, offering practical advice based on industry talent needs and his own experience.

This session of the Huangdao Business Lecture Series provided graduate students with a valuable bridge between classroom learning and real-world practice, reflecting the School’s ongoing efforts to deepen university–industry collaboration and enhance the effectiveness of professional talent development. To date, the series has held 16 sessions, bringing 18 distinguished industry leaders to campus and benefiting more than 540 faculty members and students.
