On November 14, a review panel led by Professor Liu Xiaojun, Chair of the Higher Education Engineering Management Program Accreditation Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD), together with Wang Yizheng, Party Secretary and Executive Director of Sinopec Tenth Construction Co., Ltd., conducted a midterm review of the Engineering Management program at the University.
Zhou Peng, Member of the University Party Committee and Vice President, attended the review activities, along with representatives from the Teaching Quality Evaluation Center, the Academic Affairs Office, and other relevant administrative units. Members of the leadership team of the School, the program head of Engineering Management, and full-time faculty members also participated.
Vice President Zhou Peng welcomed the experts and introduced the University’s overall profile and recent achievements. Wang Ningning, Program Head of Engineering Management, presented a report on program development and continuous improvement. Following the presentation, the review panel raised questions focusing on the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
During the quality review process, the expert panel conducted on-site inspections of key teaching facilities, including the Petroleum Industry Training Center, the BIM Laboratory, and the Engineering Management Laboratory. They reviewed a wide range of academic materials, such as training plans for different cohorts, course syllabi, teaching management documents, examination papers, and graduation projects (theses). The panel also held a discussion with student representatives to gain a comprehensive understanding of program development and improvement outcomes.
The experts spoke highly of the program’s achievements in interdisciplinary integration, internship and practical training, teaching reform, and industry–education collaboration. Based on accreditation standards and review criteria, they offered constructive recommendations on further highlighting program characteristics, refining the curriculum system, and optimizing the organization of graduation projects (theses).
After receiving the feedback, Jian Ling, Deputy Dean of the School (Acting), delivered a response on behalf of the School. He stated that the School would take this midterm review as an opportunity to carefully analyze the experts’ recommendations, implement targeted improvement measures, and continue to advance the program’s connotative development.
The Engineering Management program will use this midterm review as a new starting point to fully embrace the principles of professional accreditation, deepen comprehensive program reform, and strengthen internal quality development, with the goal of building a first-class undergraduate program and delivering high-quality undergraduate education.
