To strengthen students’ career planning awareness and enhance their employability, the Growth Track Final of the 3rd National College Students Career Planning Competition (University Finals), together with the freshmen’s “First Career Education Class,” was held on the morning of December 14 at the Lecture Hall (2nd Floor) of Yifu Auditorium. The competition was organized by the Student Career Development Center, with the School hosting the Growth Track.
Since its launch in October, the competition has received strong engagement across the University. A total of 15,401 students from 16 teaching units registered, including 11,236 participants in the Growth Track. Following multiple rounds of selection—from school-level preliminaries within each unit to the University semifinal—11 finalists advanced to the final round.
The final featured live presentations and on-site scoring, including a themed statement and Q&A with the judging panel. Through speeches, PPT presentations, and other formats, finalists shared their growth journeys and career plans with judges and the audience. The panel comprised HR leaders from well-known enterprises such as Sinopec Shengli Oilfield, Dongming Petrochemical, and Sailun Group, along with University career guidance experts. They offered professional feedback across key dimensions including career positioning, development pathways, and practical feasibility.
To further amplify the competition’s “learning through competition” impact, a series of supporting activities were delivered at both the University and School levels. After the finalist presentations, Qin Ning, Deputy Director of the Geophysical Research Institute of Sinopec Shengli Oilfield, delivered a featured talk as part of the “Youth Employment Lecture Series,” also serving as the freshmen’s first career education class, sharing his personal growth experience and career development journey.
After a closely contested final, the Growth Track awards were announced: 2 Gold Awards, 4 Silver Awards, and 5 Bronze Awards. Awardees will be recommended to compete in the Shandong provincial selection for the 3rd Shandong College Students Career Planning Competition and the provincial qualifier for the national competition.
As an important initiative jointly advanced at both the University and School levels, the event effectively connected talent development with industry needs. It helped guide students toward sound perspectives on personal growth and career choices, supported more scientific academic and career planning, and strengthened core employability. Going forward, the School will further refine its career development support system, embed career education throughout the talent cultivation process, and continue to promote higher-quality employment outcomes for graduates.
