On July 22, the School held a workshop with its newly appointed leadership team. The meeting reviewed recent achievements, drew lessons from past experience, and mapped out a new blueprint for development to build consensus and clarify directions for the School’s high-quality growth. The workshop was chaired by Zhu Hua, Party Secretary of SEM. Jian Ling, Acting Dean, outlined key work arrangements. Members of the new Party and the administrative leadership team attended.
The meeting summarized the School’s progress during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, highlighting important advances in disciplinary development, significant achievements in faculty team building, and notable improvements in academic research and the undertaking of major projects. Internationalization also saw new progress: SEM successfully earned BGA international accreditation, and AACSB accreditation work is advancing steadily.
The workshop emphasized that the School must focus on long-term development along two main directions. First, “deepening the roots”: building high-quality courses, publishing leading textbooks, developing a robust case library, establishing advanced practice and internship bases, empowering young faculty, and strengthening the teaching team to consolidate the foundation of talent cultivation. Second, “growing upward”: enhancing high-level research platforms, actively applying for doctoral programs, and seeking breakthroughs in disciplinary platform building; applying for regional and country studies programs funded by the China Scholarship Council, expanding international student enrollment and exchange opportunities; encouraging participation in high-level international conferences; improving the level of internationalization; and strengthening think tank development to enhance brand influence and share SEM’s voice more widely.
The meeting also clarified the division of responsibilities among the new leadership members and outlined plans for work-related research and consultation.
