To further strengthen the alignment between academic training and industry needs, the Haier Smart Home–SEM University–Enterprise Cooperation Seminar and the 23rd session of the “Career Sharing Forum” were successfully held on September 4 at Conference Room 580, Wenli Building. A seven-member delegation from Haier Smart Home—including Mr. Sun Zhenzheng, HR Director of Haier’s RRS Division, and Ms. Lin Chunhua, HR Manager—visited the School and engaged in in-depth discussions with faculty from the Departments of Management Science, Information Management, Accounting, Strategic Marketing, and the Student Affairs Office. The dialogue focused on discipline development, industry trends, talent demand, and innovative approaches to talent cultivation.

At the beginning of the seminar, Mr. Meng Zhaogang, Deputy Party Secretary of SEM, introduced the history and development of the School. He emphasized recent reforms and achievements in cultivating top-tier innovative talent in line with the requirements of emerging business and liberal arts education. Guided by the vision of “Consolidating SEM foundations, reinforcing energy-oriented strengths, and advancing digital-era excellence,” SEM has restructured its curriculum, expanded practice-based learning platforms, and invited Haier Smart Home to join the School’s interdisciplinary talent cultivation initiatives. Together, both parties aim to explore new collaborative models that improve curriculum design and experiential learning opportunities, ultimately addressing challenges in promoting high-quality graduate employment.

Mr. Sun Zhenzheng provided an overview of Haier Smart Home’s product portfolio, ecosystem development, business layout, and the growth of the RRS logistics system. He further elaborated on Haier’s talent strategy, recruitment needs, and career development pathways. Responding to faculty questions, he stressed the importance of aligning business management functions with core business operations and highlighted the urgency of cultivating internationally competitive talent.

From the perspective of recruitment and long-term employee development, Ms. Lin Chunhua outlined the key competencies required by enterprises. She recommended that, beyond professional knowledge and technical skills, universities should focus on strengthening students’ comprehensive abilities—particularly self-motivation, communication, logical reasoning, insight, and forward-looking thinking. She also encouraged students to actively integrate personal growth with the broader development of enterprises.

With exchange as the bridge linking supply and demand, and cooperation as the sail opening new horizons, this seminar laid a solid foundation for deepening university–enterprise collaboration. Moving forward, SEM and Haier Smart Home will expand cooperation in faculty development, resource sharing, practice platform construction, and international talent cultivation.
