On the morning of June 17, the 7th PhD Youth Academic Forum—Economics & Management and Marxism Sub-Forum—was successfully held in Room 580 of the Wenli Building. The forum aimed to promote interdisciplinary integration, foster innovative thinking among graduate students, and provide a platform for young scholars to present their research and engage in academic exchange.

The forum was chaired by Associate Professor Liu Wei of the School of Economics and Management (SEM). Ten doctoral candidates delivered presentations on their latest research findings. Faculty members Zheng Haidong, Li Zhiguo, Liu Zongming, Meng Fanyi, and Wen Wen served as panel judges, offering professional feedback on academic value, originality, presentation quality, and response to questions. The forum stimulated lively academic discussions between faculty and students.

After comprehensive evaluation, Gao Shuaizhi, a PhD student from the 2022 cohort, received the Best Oral Award for his presentation titled “Evaluating Socio-Economic and Subjective Well-Being Impacts of Coal Power Phaseout in China.”

Since the last forum, a poster session has been added to showcase student research. This year, ten doctoral and master’s students presented their work in poster format. Liu Min, a PhD student from the 2021 cohort, was awarded the Best Poster Award for her research entitled “A Learning-Based Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm for Operation Optimization in Gas Pipelines.”

Since the introduction of disciplinary sub-forums under the Youth Academic Forum, more than 80 doctoral students have been provided with opportunities to share their research, contributing to a strong academic atmosphere. Going forward, SEM will continue to leverage the Youth Academic Forum as a key platform to promote academic dialogue, enhance research quality, and nurture innovative talent. By further improving the forum’s mechanisms, strengthening interdisciplinary exchange, and deepening industry-academia collaboration, the School aims to inject new momentum into doctoral program development and cultivate more globally minded, innovative high-level scholars to advance disciplinary growth and academic excellence.
