From November 6 to 8, the 2024 Asia Pacific Annual Conference of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Professor Jian Ling, Associate Dean of the School of Economics and Management (SEM), Associate Professor Luan Kun from the Department of Strategy and Marketing, and Ms. Feng Yating from the Accreditation Office were invited to attend the event.
The conference featured two keynote addresses and twelve themed sessions, bringing together over 240 representatives from business schools and industry across the Asia Pacific region. Discussions focused on cutting-edge topics in business education, including entrepreneurial thinking, agile strategic planning, AI-driven business education transformation, institutional impact, trends shaping the future of business education, faculty engagement and incentives, curricular innovation, and graduate empowerment. A dedicated session on accreditation provided detailed case sharing and Q&A around AACSB’s processes and standards.
During the event, Professor Jian Ling engaged in productive dialogue with Dr. Geoff Perry, AACSB Executive Vice President, Global Chief Membership Officer, and Asia Pacific CEO, as well as Mr. Xu Guodong, East Asia Head of AACSB, discussing SEM’s current progress toward AACSB accreditation. He also held in-depth exchanges with representatives from leading institutions across the Asia Pacific region, including dialogues with business schools from Taylor’s University and Universiti Utara Malaysia, exploring opportunities for international collaboration.

The AACSB Asia Pacific Annual Conference serves as a premier platform for business schools in the region to gain insights into accreditation developments, exchange best practices, and explore innovative trends in business education. As of now, over 470 institutions in the Asia Pacific region are AACSB members, contributing unique experiences and practices to the global business education landscape.
SEM has been actively advancing the AACSB accreditation process. After successfully passing the Eligibility Application (EA) in November 2023, the School is now in the process of preparing its Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER).
