Program Overview

The master’s program in Business Administration at China University of Petroleum (East China) traces its origins back to the Industrial Economics major established in 1956. Between 1998 and 2006, the University was successively authorized to grant master’s degrees in three second-level disciplines: Enterprise Management, Technology Economics and Management, and Accounting. In 2006, it was formally approved to offer a first-level master’s program in Business Administration. The University was granted the right to offer the MBA program in 2009 and the MPAcc program in 2010. Both programs passed the national assessment in 2015. In 2020, the interdisciplinary doctoral program in Energy Economics and Management was newly established under this discipline.

The program emphasizes alignment with international academic norms and the development of students' capacity for scholarly innovation. With three research tracks—Corporate Strategy and Sustainable Development, Marketing and Service Management, and Organization and Human Resource Management—the program is committed to excellence through integration. Supported by national initiatives such as the “Project 211,” the “985 Innovation Platform,” and the “Double First-Class” construction plan, the School continues to deepen discipline development, enhance its energy-oriented characteristics, build a strong faculty, and establish specialized labs and platforms for international academic exchange.
